4-Axis CNC Cutting, Milling and Engraving
HARMUTH is a pair of industrial 4-axis CNC machines for sheet materials and three-dimensional components. They are identical in construction and control — a 4150 × 2060 mm work area and 0.001 mm accuracy — and differ only in machining height: 270 mm on one, 350 mm on the other. The taller one takes bulkier forms, aluminium moulds up to 200 mm for instance.
The spindle runs at 36,000 rpm with water cooling, and travel speed reaches 70,000 mm/min. Absolute encoders are calibrated in Germany, control runs over EtherCAT with servo drives, and the software is Penta Teck.
Materials: aluminium, acrylic, PVC, MDF, plywood, wood, composite panels, technical foams, silicone, EVA foam, felt, textiles, thick PVC, Laminam, corrugated board and cardboard. Thicknesses up to 100 mm.

Tooling and machining
The machines work with an oscillating tool, creasing wheels, scalpel blades and tungsten tooling, and they also cut threads.

Digital table mapping builds a map of the bed itself, which keeps engraving depth accurate. The same tool measures the actual thickness of the blank.
Adaptive vacuum adjusts the pump speed to demand — no vibration during machining and lower power draw. Material is picked up by laser, and one of the machines also has a camera.
Production-line mode — on No. 2 only
The gantry parks in the middle and works both ends in turn: the operator loads on the left while the machine cuts on the right, and the other way round. Sheets up to 2000 × 2000 mm. Start buttons on both sides of the body, so nobody has to walk around it. The result is speed, and a lower price for the client.
